This is the web address for a a viral video of a cat saving a little boy from a dog attack. Most have probably seen it by now; it's scary but I don't feel that it's all that graphic. First of all it's amazing! That cool-cat comes out of nowhere and chases that dog right out of there. That dog may or may not be "saveable" If its been doing that long enough, eventually it will attack even its owner. -amen- If that's the case then it needs to be put down. I love dogs. I learned long ago that they learn what they are taught. From the time my beautiful German Shorthair was a teething puppy, she was taught that it was UNACCEPTABLE to put her mouth on a human. It was done in a loving but firm manner and it was done regularly to reinforce the thought. I'd say it took a month, maybe two. In my life I have been bitten by German Shephards, Doberman Pincers, Collies and the odd mutt or two. I love dogs. Blame the humans who taught the animal to be aggressive. I was bugging my co-worker the other day. I wondered if he could beat his dog Rucker in a double-cheeseburger eating contest. I said that I would take him in a close call, by a burger. He told me that he was jealous of his dog: "Rucker gets to sit around all day, and have his food brought to him." He could chase squirrels at will and poop wherever he wanted; all taken care of by daddy.
I laughed. Then I realized i was jealous too. The first dog I remember in my life was Corky.... didn't everybody have a dog named Corky?
I would greet him in the back yard, down the old concrete steps my dad built. He would always be wet from swimming in the barge canal. The matted fur of his coat was a testament to a dogs life: laying in the dirt and drying in the sun; and if there was a dead woodchuck nearby, all the better to roll in and absorb the delicious aroma. There's and old saying: "I don't trust anyone who doesn't like a dog, but I trust a dog that doesn't like a person" |
